About diabetic foot ulcers

Diabetic foot ulcers are open sores that develop on the feet of people with diabetes, often on the bottom of the foot or on the toes. Diabetes can reduce feeling in the feet and slow healing, so a small blister or cut can become a wound that isn’t noticed right away.

Why in-home care helps

Walking on a foot wound can make it worse, and many patients with diabetes are managing other health conditions at the same time. With in-home care, the clinician comes to the patient and coordinates with their existing doctors and home health team.

This service is not for emergencies. If a wound is spreading quickly, the skin around it turns dark, or the patient has a fever, new confusion, or seems very unwell, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
